Minnesota Kids Investment and Development Savings (MinneKIDS)

St. Paul has blazed a way in our state, but we could still bring that work to scale. Sixteen states already have child savings accounts to support families in saving for postsecondary education.  Minnesota may aspire to be the seventeenth, but we still have a lot of work to conceptualize,

Grant Purpose

Local communities can apply for strategic field-building grants to develop a cross-sectional action-oriented board of passionate leaders to invest in the architecture of a community-driven child-savings accounts in your community and the state. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3)* youth and community-focused organizations as well as economic development organizations. 
  • Organizations must be located in Minnesota. 

Up to four grants of at least $100,000 will be awarded.  

Up to two grants could be awarded in each of the following geographies:

  • Urban
  • Suburban
  • Rural
  • Tribal Nations

*Eligible applicants also include organizations described above that have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor in lieu of a 501(c)(3).
