Meet Our Digital Media Intern

Hey there! My name is Jasmine Bautista. Over the month of January, I worked with Youthprise as the Digital Media Intern. Currently, I am a senior at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake Iowa, completing my final semester. I plan to graduation in May 2017. I am pursuing a degree in Digital Media with a focus on photography. Throughout my college career, my focus has shifted. In the beginning, my goal was to focus on fashion photography. However, I learned early that fashion was not necessarily my passion as much as it was a hobby.

During my sophomore year, I began to get involved with a volunteer organization that worked with a variety of non-profit organizations in the community. I went from volunteering within the community to traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to volunteer during spring break.

I became the Volunteer Coordinator for the Society for Collegiate Journalist group on the Buena Vista campus. Over the last three years, I organized volunteer events for the group to provide services to other non-profits in the community. My efforts in helping coordinate volunteer events led to our recognition for the Mary Beth Earnheardt national service award.

I am grateful for all the volunteer opportunities I have been a part of. During the final chapter of my college journey, I wanted to further my experience and decided to look for an internship with a nonprofit. I was particularly interested in working with an organization that invests itself with the advancement of youth and social justice. Youthprise fit that perfectly.

As the Digital Media Intern at Youthprise, I have used my skills in photography to tell stories of the organization and its partnerships. I believe that everyone has a story to tell and are not always given the opportunity or have the tools to put their story out there. Through this opportunity, I have learned more about how the organization is run, the in and outs of working with a nonprofit organization and its partnerships. After graduation, it is my goal to continue working with nonprofits.

Here are some of the photos I have taken during my time at Youthprise:
