Job Posting: Nutrition Program Meal Access Interns

The Nutrition Program Meal Access Interns will recruit, expand, market, and monitor Nutrition Sites for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) located in or near the Metro. These positions will provide regular oversight for food delivery and meal distribution to multiple sites in compliance with regulations of the USDA, Summer Food Service Program, and State of Minnesota Department of Education. The Meal Access Interns will learn multiple levels of community nutrition and food access that affect local Minnesota communities and their youth working with local vendors and community partners regularly to administer summer meals.

Anticipated Job Duration and Schedule: These are part-time, temporary positions. These positions would be trained in May and work from June-August 2019. Average 14 hours per week, flexible scheduling. Normal business hours with some early evening hours required to conduct site training and checks.

Compensation: Non-exempt, $16 per hour.

Education, Experience & Skills

High school diploma required (may be graduating May/June 2019); special interest in candidates pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Management, Health, Public Health, or related Community Service majors.

One to three years of life or professional experience in youth development, family services, nutrition, food services, or related work. Preferred knowledge of federal and state food program requirements. Proficiency in MS Office products and database management. Passion and demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural communities.

Ability to travel to all meal sites as needed. Approximately 50% out of office.
