Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for entering the vast majority of financial transactions into the accounting system. The individual must have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls. The Accounting Manager must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and adhere to deadlines.

Finance related duties:

    • Accounts payable process including: entering new vendors, maintaining W-9s; conducting searches, entering invoices and grant payment requests, annual 1099 reporting.
    • Accounts receivable process including: recording contributions and other payments received, maintaining donor records, calculating and booking receivables.
    • Entering payroll and benefits transactions in accounting system.
    • Working with all staff to ensure timely and accurate submission of credit card receipts and documentation, facilitating entry of credit card transaction data into accounting system.
    • Month-end close process including: accruals and prepaids, calculating and recording cost allocations, releases of restricted funds, reconciling bank statements.
    • Reporting including: monthly organizational financials, budget versus actual reports for program managers, financial statements for funders.
    • Tracking grant awards and agreements.
    • Tracking contracts with vendors and payments.
    • Assisting with annual Audit, Form 990, Budget processes. 
  • Attending Finance Committee meetings. 
  • Systems utilized include: Microsoft, Sage Intacct,, Divvy, SalesForce, Paylocity, Slack, Zoom.

Other responsibilities:

  • Integrating Racial Equity and Youth Voice in work.
  • Attending regular staff meetings.
  • Participating in Racial Equity Learning Group.
  • Serving as a resource for finance related inquiries.
  • Working with other staff and committees to update policies and procedures as needed.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, regular employee.

Compensation: This is an exempt role with a pay range of $65,000-$70,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, 403(b), and more.

Education, Experience & Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and at least two years experience. Comprehensive understanding of accounting transactions and internal controls is essential. Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy. Quick learner, proactive, self-starter. Interested in improving processes and creating efficiencies. Honesty, integrity, and discretion related to sensitive information. Proficient skills related to Microsoft applications, especially Excel. Experience with Sage Intacct software preferred. Ability to relate to and work with, youth from diverse social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds effectively and in an engaging and positive manner.

This is a remote work position due to the pandemic. Option to remain a remote position can be negotiated. Must be Minnesota resident.
