Announcing our Podcaster-in-Residence!

Youthprise is opening a call for a brand-new initiative that capitalizes on the power of youth storytellers in digital media: our 2018 Podcaster-in-Residence. We are looking for passionate young people to pitch a podcast series that highlights an issue related to the core values of Youthprise. These values include racial equity, youth engagement, economic opportunity, health and safety, and learning and leadership.

Program Outline
Timeframe: January to July 2018.
The Podcaster-in-Residence will meet two times per week with the Podcast Producer and Communications Director to produce six 30-minute podcast episodes. Episodes will be released once a month.
- Friday, December 1– Request for proposals announced at Youthprise Summit
- Monday, January 15 (11:59 PM) – Proposals Due
- Tuesday, January 16 – Proposals reviewed by Youthprise panel
- Monday, January 22 – Podcaster-in-Residence notified of acceptance
Additional Support for the Podcaster-in-Residence:
- A $5,000 Stipend
- Time with the Youthprise Brand Manager to develop a branding concept and logo for the podcast
- Monthly meeting with a podcast mentor
- Promotional support from Youthprise
Additional Support for the Podcaster-in-Residence:
- Applicants must be 25 years old or younger
- Applicants must live in Minnesota
- Applicants should have big and bold ideas for a podcast
- Podcasts must relate to the core values of Youthprise
- Podcasts produced by and with Youthprise are owned by the organization
- All materials produced can be reposted and used for reference by the Podcaster in Residence
How to Apply
Applicants must upload a written overview of the proposed podcast and a 3 to 5-minute audio introduction in the form below. Proposals are due by 11:59 PM on Monday, January 15.
The written overview should include:
- Podcast Title
- Podcast description (200 to 500 words)
- Relevant Information about the host(s) of the podcast (100 to 200 words)
Audio introductions should answer the following questions:
- What is your name?
- What should we know about you?
- What is your proposed podcast?
- Why is your podcast relevant?
- What do you hope to gain from the Podcaster in Residence experience?
The audio introduction is a recorded message from the podcast host(s). This does not have to be professional recording. Recordings can be made on a cell phone, studio equipment, etc… Audio introductions should showcase the applicant’s personality and voice for the proposed podcast. Audio recording must be exported as .mp3 files to be submitted via the form below.
